Builds High-Speed Multipoint Broadband Wireless System
for Salem, Missouri Internet Service Provider
The city of Salem, Missouri
is going high-speed with the help of a Raleigh-area company. A regional
Internet service provider, SalemNet, LLC will be the first ISP in Missouri to
offer this technology to its clients. DockPoint will deploy its technology
architecture for SalemNet, allowing it to compete with Sprint and Time Warner
Cable for high-speed broadband clients.
SalemNet has contracted
DockPoint to build a broadband wireless system, enabling SalemNet to offer its
customers a high-speed Internet alternative. DockPoint, recognized as a Wi-Fi
industry pioneer, will install multiple wireless locations, providing fixed
broadband Internet services and hotspot locations throughout SalemNet's service
areas. In addition to providing Wi-Fi Internet access, DockPoint will upgrade
SalemNet's existing infrastructure, and streamline its data network for optimal
surfing and connectivity.
How it works: Access
points will broadcast in the 2.4 ghz band over the selected areas.
Subscribers will connect via receivers (Customer Premise
Equipment) installed either on their rooftops or within their computers.
Authentication software and other measures will prevent unauthorized users from
stealing wireless service.
